For many years the statistical analysis of scientific and technological personnel has received attention from various sectors of society. Its difficulty lies in the determination of what constitutes the field of science and technology. Statistics on human resources in science and technology in China and science and engineering in the United States science are concerned with the aspects of occupations and qualifications. This paper compares the differences between the two countries in terms of statistics caliber, statistics method and statistics information release. It suggests that Chinese science and technology talent statistics can introduce modern survey methods, pay attention to the connection of discipline statistics and occupation statistics, and draw on the research ideas of different classification measures.
