Since 2005, S&T Workers Condition Survey Sites has been setting up by CAST nationwide. Through expanding scale and optimizing layout, currently the survey system has turned to be the only one fixed investigation system targeted to S&T workers nationwide with 516 national sites and about 300 provincial sites, covering the institutions of different types at different levels, including scientific research institutions, colleges and universities, medical and health institutions, enterprises, high schools, high-tech zones, national associations, grass-root S&T associations. In recent years, depending on the survey sites, CAST has completed many significant projects, like The Second, Third, and Fourth National S&T Workers Condition Survey, Survey on Projects Undertaken by S&T Workers, Survey on Ideological State of S&T Workers, Survey on Flow of S&T Workers, Survey on Psychological State of S&T Workers, Survey on Innovation and Startups of S&T Workers, Survey on Professional Qualifications of S&T Workers, etc., and it also plays an important supporting role for the Party Central Committee and the Government to formulate S&T talents policies by timely reporting the condition of S&T talents and their voice and appeal to the Party Central Committee and the State Council. With S&T workers condition survey sites as its basis and advantages, NAIS has vigorously promoted the specialization, institutionalization and systemization of survey channels, survey techniques, survey system and survey projects, and further built up a first-hand data-acquisition system for supporting the S&T innovation think tank.
