Hierarchical Features and Patterns of Global Academic Journals

Academic journals are developed to satisfy the needs of academic exchanges. Thanks to the development of printing and information technologies, the number of academic journals has increased dramatically. Therefore the selection of high-quality, representative and influential journals has become the major purpose of academic journal evaluation. Such evaluation is mainly carried out by using recognized indexes and authoritative index systems. The hierarchy of academic journals in this article has the following two parts: One is based on the selection of data bases of academic journals, such as SCI, EI and Scopus. The other is based on bibliometrics rankings, such as JCR, SCImago Journal and Rank and Google Scholar Metrics.
